The Cthulhu Rising Links Library

Sci-fi Links

A list of science fiction resources. There is some crossover with hard science too.

3-D Star Maps

This webpage, created by Winchell Chung, is a superb resource for 'hard' SF writers and interstellar game designers who need reasonably accurate 3-D starmaps in order to set the stage.

Astrosynthesis

The universe is in 3D, so why map it in 2D? Use AstroSynthesis, NBOS's revolutionary star mapping system for sci-fi gamers, authors, and space buffs! I have a copy of this and it is superb. I have already used it to map out the Core Systems and Outer Colonies.

Extrasolar Visions

Extrasolar Visions is dedicated to providing information about newly discovered extrasolar planets. But beyond the hard data, it is also the intent of this site to speculate, through images and words, about what these new planets might be like. Although I have included this under science fiction, there is a lot of science fact about extrasolar planets on here.

SolStation.com

SolStation.com provides information and software for those interested in astronomy and in writing, education, or entertainments related to science or speculative fiction. A great resource for information about star systems in our stellar neighbourhood.

Space 4 Case

A website with some fantastic renders of Mars and other planets. The artist has kindly allowed Cthulhu Rising permission to use some of his renders on the website and in the forthcoming Secrets of Mars supplement.

Star Generator

Star is a star system generator for Sci-Fi RPG.It includes things like binary sytems, asteroids, atmospheric compostion, unusual planet characteristics (rings, native life, high tides...), day and night temperatures or quantity of mineral ressources. Star was developed by Aina Rasolomalala.

The Travellers

The website of artist Mark Harrison, who is responsible for the classic strip The Travellers, which appeared in White Dwarf magazine back in the 1980s, when it was still good.

Traveller Web Portal, The

Downport.com is a hub for 25 Traveller-related websites, and contains a wealth of information on my all time fave sci-fi RPG.
